February 2024 Updates!

Can you believe February is already over? It always flies by for me. This month I had a blast celebrating Valentine’s Day with my husband and Galentine’s Day with one of my best friends!

On the administrative side of FOCUS, February is a relatively slow time — especially compared to January 😅 However, we did have two large ministry-wide events! 

This semester’s Pizza Theology topic was The Bible! Such a broad topic, but our staff speakers covered it exceptionally well. They discussed the history of the Bible and biblical canon, various translations of the Bible and how we ended up with the ones we have today, and so much more. Nearly 400 students attended! It was a thought-provoking event and made me want to learn more about where our Bible comes from!

One of our campus ministers at UTD, Lailah Duke, planned and hosted a Night of Black Church in honor of Black History Month. It was complete with music, a praise dance, and a sermonette! We were instructed to dress in our Sunday best and come ready to praise and worship. It’s so exciting to me that students and community members of varying church and racial backgrounds came out to attend this event! I loved learning about and celebrating the history of the Black American church among so many fellow believers.
